Chickenpox Season is almost here! As a homeopath, I've witnessed the seasonal dance of chickenpox in my clinic, particularly in the Spring. Let's have a look at chickenpox, embracing it as a normal part of your child's journey and discovering how homeopathy can be a comforting guide through this time.

Chickenpox, a highly contagious viral illness, comes up as an itchy rash that spreads across the body, starting on the chest, back, and stomach before venturing to other realms. These small red bumps evolve into fluid-filled blisters. While typically mild, it can be more challenging for those with weakened immune systems.

It's not all doom and gloom.  Childhood illnesses, like chickenpox, play a pivotal role in fortifying the immune system and fostering overall development. These tiny battles with viruses become stepping stones for your child's immune system, preparing them to face future challenges with resilience and strength.

It can be really difficult as a parent to see your little one unwell.  So here are some homeopathic allies that may resonate with your child's specific needs:

  1. Rhus toxicodendron: Tackling itching and restlessness.  This remedy is one of the ones I prescribe most frequently for Chickenpox.
  2. Belladonna: Soothing high fever and headaches.  Unfortunately, often times it's not just a rash that comes along.  Some children will be quite poorly with it.
  3. Pulsatilla: This is the perfect remedy for those children who are really weepy and clingy when they are sick.

Begin the chosen remedy as soon as the rash emerges.  If you are unsure what remedy you need, you can always book an acute appointment for this with me

Beyond the magic of homeopathy, let's there are other things you can do which are natural and non-toxic to alleviate itching and reduce scarring. An oatmeal bath, calendula cream, and chamomile-infused compresses can be gentle allies in this soothing journey.

Embrace the beauty of childhood illnesses, let homeopathy be your gentle guide, and watch your little ones blossom into resilient, immune warriors.
