Half term is only a few weeks away and many of us will be heading away for a little (badly needed) sunshine.  If you are one of the lucky ducks heading off to the sun, don’t forget your travel remedy kit.  This will help you navigate (almost) anything that may crop up on your holiday. 
 
TRAVEL ANXIETY AND FEAR

Aconite, Arg-nit, Arsenicum combination

  • Fear, anxiety and general stress which includes fear of flying.
Aconite
  • Panic with great fear of flying, death and accidents
Argent nit
  • Fear of flying.
  • Fidgety and apprehensive before travel
  • Restlessness
  • Claustrophobia
  • Fear of heights.
Gelsemium
  • Anxiety before travel
  • Trembling & weakness
  • Diarrhoea.
 
MOTION SICKNESS

Cocculus

One of the top remedies for travel sickness.
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Dizziness.
Ipecac
  • Constant nausea with or without vomiting.
  • Vomiting does not relieve nausea
  • Nausea with lots of saliva production
  • Very pale appearance.
Nux Vomica 
  • Sickness that feels like a hangover
  • Desire to vomit but has difficulty doing so.
Bryonia
  • Mainly used for sickness during take-off and landing on an aeroplane. 
  • Nausea accompanied by a faint feeling. 
  • Thirsty for cold water.
Gelsemium
  • Nausea with a hot head
  • Empty feeling in the stomach
 
JET LAG

Arnica

  • Stiff aching muscles
  • Feeling groggy
 
Cocculus
  • Insomnia despite tiredness
  • Changes in sleep patterns
  • Disorientation.
 
Nux Vomica
  • Flight hangover
  • Tiredness with irritability
  • May feel chilly and nauseous
 
TRAVEL DIARRHEA AND SICKNESS

Aloe soc
  • Diarrhoea with burning pains
  • Flatus.
  • Stools may be lumpy or jelly like
 
Arsenicum
  • Diarrhoea with or without vomiting
  • Often caused by bad food
  • Exhausted & restless
  • Thirsty for small sips of water.
 
Carbo veg
  • Diarrhoea caused by bad food or over indulgence.
  • Stomach and guts are bloated and rumbling.
  • Much offensive wind is passed
  • Lots of belching which relieves symptoms.
 
China
  • This remedy should be given alongside any other indicated remedy to help restore fluid balance after diarrhoea or vomiting
 
Ipecac
  • Nausea with copious vomiting
  • Pale face with hot or cold sweat.
  • Diarrhoea in children may be green or frothy like
 
Nux Vomica
  • Nausea relieved by vomiting.
  • Often after overeating or drinking too much.
 
BITES AND STINGS

Apis
  • Bee stings and stings where there is much swelling
  • Heat and redness at the site of the bite/sting.
  • The pain is made worse by heat and better by cold applications.
Ledum
  • Pricking, stinging pains
  • Redness and swelling.
  • Sting relieved by cold applications.
 
Urtica urens
  • Urticaria as a result of allergic reactions to insect bites and stings.
  • Pain is pricking, burning and feels better for rubbing.
 
SUNBURN

Calendula Cream
  • For mild sunburn.
Cantharis
  • Painful sunburn with possible blistering. 
Urtica urens
  • Mild sunburn with itching
  • Allergic reactions to the sun in the form of prickly heat.
