Homeopathy & the zombie apocalypse

You may not have been aware that May is Zombie Awareness Month.  That’s right, Zombie month!  According to Wikipedia ‘Zombie Awareness Month is a campaign to bring awareness about zombies and the possibility of a future zombie apocalypse.  The campaign was introduced and is predominantly funded by The Zombie Research Society (ZRS), an organization dedicated to the historic, cultural and scientific study of the living dead that was founded in 2007.  According to the ZRS, the main objective of Zombie Awareness Month is to educate people about causes, prevention and preparation for a supposed future zombie pandemic.’

There is no doubting that we humans have an obsession with the undead.  Just look at the number of zombie movies and TV shows there are out there.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) even have their own Zombie Preparedness blog on their website and the Pentagon has it’s own zombie emergency plan also.  While this may seem to be over the top and unnecessary, the Zombie Research Society would beg to differ!

It did get me thinking though about the remedies you may need to survive a zombie apocalypse!  I have put together a few remedies to keep in your bug-out bag 😉.

First & foremost, a bite remedy!  We all know that the #1 remedy for bites is Ledum.  This is a fantastic remedy for any kind of puncture wound, especially animal and snake bites.  And perhaps zombie bites.  When dealing with a highly infectious bite there are also few other remedies to consider:
  • Pyrogen is an excellent remedy for sepsis and septicemia.  Definitely one to consider if you notice the spread of zombie infection through the veins.
  • Belladonna should be on hand to deal with any fevers that come on after the bite.  This will help the body to manage the infection and expel it from the body.
  • Mercurius is a remedy to consider if there is ulceration and pus around the bite.

All of this is going to take its toll on your system so remember to use Aconite for shock.

Depending on how fast and how far you need to run you’re probably going to become quite tired.
  • Arnica is great for dealing with any aches or strains and will improve your muscle recovery time.
  • Phosphoric Acidum should be part of your kit to deal with depression and exhaustion caused by prolonged stress.

Remember to stay hydrated.  If you don’t have water with you on your escape, then remember to stay away from stagnant water.  This could cause serious gastric problems with will leave you weakened.  Not a great idea when on the run from brain-hungry zombies!  Keep Arsenicum on hand to deal with any vomiting and diarrhea.  Once this unpleasant illness has passed, China will help you recover your strength.  It works on assisting the body to re-hydrate, with the help of fresh, clean water, after loss of vital fluids.
You’ll probably need Calendula to help you treat and heal minor wounds whilst on the run.

Don’t forget the basics either!
  • Water
  • Food (stock up on non-perishable items that you eat regularly)
  • Tools and Supplies (utility knife, duct tape, battery powered radio, etc.)
  • Sanitation and Hygiene (soap, towels, etc.)
  • Clothing and Bedding (a change of clothes for each family member and blankets)
  • Important documents (copies of your driver’s license, passport, and birth certificate to name a few)
  • First Aid supplies (plasters, bandages etc.)

Good luck everyone!
